Don't be fooled by Biodegradable bags. |
Most 'biodegradable' bags are not what we think.
A group of scientists conducted research on a few shopping
bags that were supposedly biodegradable, but the truth was
much more disappointing.

This research doesn't solve the global issue
of green washing, but it does help bring to light how dishonest
bag producers can be about how eco-friendly their products
are. So as we're waiting for tougher regulations on the matter,
please watch out and don't get fooled! |

Lasered Fruit & Veggies
Coming to a supermarket near you.

Food retailers aiming to cut plastic packaging
by ditching stickers on fruits and vegetables
The humble fruit sticker may seem an unlikely
cause for environmental concern but removing it from produce
could create huge savings in plastic, energy and CO2 emissions
world wide.

In response to consumer demand for less packaging,
many retailers are adopting this and other conscious decisions. |

What form is this year's classroom going
to take? Will we all be behind masks or plexiglas? Or
perhaps live via Zoom? We don't know.
What we do know is that with the challenging conditions
our teachers and students are having to deal with, the
need for informative and captivating workshops is going
to be more important than ever. This year Cathy is back
with a triple shot workshop.
Wonder of Worms, Simplicity of Sprouts
& The Magic of Laughter
- Worms are going to play an ever-increasing role
in waste management, soil production and therefore
food security.
- Sprouts are considered nature's superfood. Learn
how to grow sprouts in your classroom in 24-48 hours.
- Discover the key role laughter plays in our mental
and physical well being.
Worms for amending the soil and
sprouts for eating are going to help solve world hunger.
Wash that down with a good D.O.S.E. of laughter just
for the health of it. Find out how. Students also learn
about Life as an entrepreneur. What are some of the
challenges and some of our research and collection projects
are discussed.
Is
this the year that Cathy visits (or returns to) your
class with one of her high energy, interactive workshops?
Have fun and meet your curriculum requirements at the
same time.
These Worm Workshops are designed
to get students excited about the environment and the
study of worms. Students have fun learning how to setup
and maintain a Vermicomposter. Explore the basics of
worm biology and other environmental issues. Students
can take home their own mini-vermicomposter. |
Sprout Growing Workshops.
Sprouting
is the practice of germinating seeds to be eaten
either raw or cooked. Sprouts can easily be grown
at home and in the classroom.
Sprouts are Considered
Nature's Superfood!
Sprouts are so high in nutritional
value that they are considered nature's Superfood.
Packed with vitamins, minerals, proteins, enzymes
and phytochemicals, sprouts have been shown to
help digestion, increase energy levels and provide
a boost to the immune system.

"(Sprouts) supply the highest
amount of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, etc. of
any food per unit of calorie."
Lucie Desjarlais, RNC
Adding sprouts to your life adds
life to your life.

Start sprouting
in your kitchen for health and food security.

Laughter Workshops
Have you heard that Laughter is the
best medicine? Did you know there is science
that backs this claim. With each round of laughter
your brain is flooded with the love drugs: Dopamine,

- Easy and fun exercise
- Increase happiness and reduce stress
- More energy and strengthen immune system

Hi Cathy,
I wanted to let you know, we have had
fabulous feedback from your workshops. Of the 3 eco-workshops
we organized last year (yours, one on bees, one for
gardening) yours was hands above in engaging the students.
That from teachers and parents. Thought I'd share with

Yes, a laughter club! And Cathy loves to laugh! Interesting
conversation about laughter and how Cathy came about
becoming a Laughter Yoga Instructor and Leader. Cathy
and I discussed how it is interesting that if you
are crying alone people feel empathy, yet if you are
laughing alone, they think you are "crazy". Laughter
is so important. It helps to relieve stress and pain.
And as Cathy points out, it exercises your body without
working hard at it! :) Laughter it contagious - spread

- Laughter Really Is The Best Medicine For
More Reasons Then We Realize
Laughter might be a miracle cure for a lot of things
that ail us. The best parts are that it’s free and
contagious. When we laugh a deep belly laugh it makes
us breathe in very deep bringing more much-needed
oxygen. A lot of breath to shallow anyway. You actually
burn calories as well kicking your brain into high
gear. Also leads to an endorphin boost.

Fab Fridays
Welcome to the Peace, Passion, Prosperity Project, the goal
is that through entrepreneurship, we can spread peace worldwide.
Through co-operation as opposed to competition. Through solving
today’s complex problems and coming up with ideas, products
and services to make positive changes on the planet!
A while back David Cohen, founder of The Peace, Passion,
Prosperity Project, approached Cathy with a new project idea.
In line with movement's belief that Peace can happen and
as business owners we can make it happen, David was looking
for a way to make Fridays fun. A smile to start the day. A
way to make Fridays Fabulous again.
So Fab Friday's was born. A high octane videoblog that is
one part Laughter Yoga, one part Breathing Exercises and all
parts whimsy. Some segments will be profound, some will just
be silly, but one thing's certain. Every Friday will
be Fab.
Posted every Friday to The
Peace, Passion, Prosperity Project on facebook
& CathysClub.com.
